Just call us Clark and Ellen

Well, the Thanksgiving adventure commences in true Parris style.

Yesterday:

2 adults and 3 carseats (with kids, too) packed like Vienna sausages into a “mid-size” car.

In the rain.

44 degrees.

The heater is broken, so to keep the fog off the inside of the windshield, we had to run the air conditioning at…full blast.

Oh, and one of the windshield wiper arms came loose, so it was flopping around on the windshield like a fish out of water.

Today:

Whrrrrrrrrrr.

“What’s that?”

Roooooooar.

“Do you hear that?”

Graaaaaaaap.

“It’s a flat tire, isn’t it?”

Pulled into a strip mall parking lot.

Yep. It’s a flat tire. Hole in the sidewall so big I could push my arm through it.

A nice guy came to offer help. Held a flashlight for me. Turned out he was waiting for someone to jumpstart his car.

So after putting on the good lo doughnut spare, we shared a little of our electricity with him.

I do have to say I swapped that puppy out in record time.

Just call us the Griswolds.

Bold Move…

Just sent this out to a bunch of friends and family… Got a little nervous there hitting send b/c this is our biggest step of faith since deciding to move to Charleston. Would you pray that God would meet this need, and then make it overflow? There are some specific ways we want to bless some folks with whatever God gives us beyond our monthly budget.

And maybe you could jump on board?

Play a Message from the Parris Family

Greetings from the Parris family! We’re sending this message to quite a few people…friends we see often, new friends, friends we haven’t seen in years, and precious family. It’s a little intimidating for us, to be honest. So thanks in advance for taking the time to read it thoroughly and prayerfully.

In June of this year, our little family of five loaded up a cargo trailer…three times…and moved from Atlanta, Georgia to Charleston, South Carolina. After serving for eight years at West Ridge Church, God had called us to help start a brand new church community called River Church.

#perfectday

I won’t lie… The last few days have been a little discouraging. Some financial realities have been on the forefront of my mind. And last night I got wind of a situation that really shook me…maybe more than it should have. But it did nonetheless.

And then today happened.

1. Met with the principal at the school we’ve been praying about renting for our worship services at River Church. We kept waiting the hear the “but” or the “no, we can’t do that.” Never heard it. Contract in hand, ready for ink. Amazing facility, amazing price. Extraordinary relationship with the school…already. Glory to God.

2. Spent the afternoon with the River Church staff enduring some tedious training. But loved every minute of it. Why on earth do I deserve to be a part of this team? Glory to God.
