Finally got Kenni her 1st haircut

photo.jpg

After 3-1/2 years, we finally took Kenni to get her hair cut. We are sending the remnant to Locks of Love. She’s commemorating the occasion with a strawberries ‘n cream frap from Starbucks.

Ummmm… Caption, please:

My genius daughter…

McKenna’s been learning her way around the computer lately. I’m not sure WHEN she did this, but she has apparently learned how to add a bookmark group in my web browser.
Hopefully the “amx” doesn’t mean she’s opened herself a charge card account.
Reminder: She’s 3.

The next Parris

Here’s our new little bit. This is the first time we’ve actually gotten to SEE any of kids’ hearts beating. Very cool.
Official due date: January 31, 2009!

Don’t waste a word

photo.jpg

Annette and I are sitting in a waiting room waiting to see a new OB as we begin our third pregnancy journey. We’ve been here for two-and-a- half hours already. Blah. Lots of sitting. Lots of waiting. Lots of ‘interesting’ people. And LOTS of magazines.
I picked this one up, and Annette noticed the type-o. Front page. Featured article. Fairly large print.
In the green room yesterday morning, I encouraged our band, singers, production team…everyone serving as a worship artist…with this thought:
Don’t waste a word.
Every word matters. Whether you’re singing it, teaching it, accentuating it with a drum hit, or displaying it on a screen, every word should have value.
If it doesn’t, don’t say it.
In the marketing world, the value of a word is spent to convince your target audience. In the publishing world, it helps reinforce credibility. In the context of personal relationships, the cheapening of our words over time can fuel a lack of trust.
And as we lead our churches in worship, a wasted word can make or break the clarity of our message.

Cat love…Cajun style

photo.jpg

So we used to have 2 cats in our house. But then we kicked them out because we were tired of cleaning up after them. One ran away (or so we thought until we were trick-or-treating last fall and found her living at a house down the street). The other one has been more loyal than a seeing eye dog through feast and famine (meaning: sometimes we forget to feed her for 2 or 3 days).

She loves us dearly, for some reason. She lets the girls torture her. And like any good kitty, she brings us mostly dead offerings. Sometimes she brings us birds. Sometimes it’s chipmunks.

Today…she brought us a crawfish. (From a distance, though, it looked like a huge scorpion. Kinda freaked me out.)

Definitely a first.

Get A Room

If you’re that tired at 8:30am, perhaps you should rethink your daily routine.

Crazy storm damage near our house

photo.jpg

This was a gas station near our house until early this morning. I guess if a storm is gonna keep me up all night, it might as well be a good one.

I love my day job

I have a lot on my plate during the week… It’s perpetual motion and little room for error. But this is the payoff. My team is phenomenal and rises to many-a-challenge with a smile.

Finally got mobile posting working again!

I’ve always used a WordPress plugin called “postie” to allow posting by email to ye ole blog. But the upgrade to WordPress 2.5 broke it. Finally found this post that got me back on track! Woot!
